EARLY BIRDS AND NOT SO EARLY BIRDS NEEDED

Volunteers are desperately needed from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM or 7:15 AM to 10:00 AM to help Ron Bezon in the Soup Kitchen, Monday through Saturday. There are so many needy people who are hungry and it up to us to feed them. Please help Ron help the homeless and the less fortunate. Your reward will be great, both on earth and in Heaven. Call Ron Bezon 901-527-5350.

Attention: All Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers

Your new schedules have been prepared and are ready for pick-up in the Sacristy. Remember, if you are unable to serve at your appointed time, it is your responsibility to obtain a substitute. Thank you.

Monday Communion Service

Remember-we have a Communion Service every Monday evening at 5:30 PM. Stop by on your way home and share some quiet time in the Church. It will definitely calm your nerves and make the journey home more peaceful!

First Friday Adoration

We will have the sign-up sheet in the Narthex, for you to volunteer for the hour of your choice. The joy you receive for spending an hour with Jesus cannot be described. We hope you will be able to benefit from this wonderful experience.

Saint Marys News

You Can Help a Person With Special Needs Receive First Eucharist

Do you have a family member or a friend who has special needs that have hindered this person from receiving Reconciliation and First Eucharist? The Diocesan Department of Catechisis wants to help. In order to help them, you need to help us identify these people so they can be prepared to receive these sacraments. As we are made aware of information on the members of this special needs community, we will create classes based on geographical location, age, and disability. Please call Nancy Thielemier, 522-9420, FAX 522-8314, so a list can be compiled of this most deserving community. Give your name and phone number, as well as the name, address, phone and type of disability of the person with special needs.

Help Support Birthright of Memphis

Baskets are located in the Parish Hall and the Third Street Entrance to accept donations of much needed items for Birthright of Memphis, a non-profit group that assists, supports and educated young women during and after pregnancy. This will be an ongoing Parish wide project, sponsored by the St. Marys Womens League. Birthright has asked us to collect the following items: baby clothes (onesies, sleepers, gowns), socks or booties, bibs, burp towels, blankets, hats, diapers and crib sheets. We would love to be able to demonstrate in this special way that the parishioners of Saint Marys "have a heart". The specific items being collected are: baby clothes, socks, blankets, diapers, etc...Any assistance you can offer will be much appreciated. Thank you, to all who contributed to our first donation to Birthright!

Suggestion Box

There is now a "Suggestion Box" located in the Narthex of the church. Please use the provided cards to communicate your suggestions to the Pastor, church staff, pastoral council or one of the various church club/organization leaders. The box will be checked weekly for your suggestions.

The Resource Library of the Diocese of Memphis is now accessible through the diocesan website 'www.cdom.org'. The library is open to all, with books, videos and DVDs on many subjects to our faith. Check-out is for two (2) weeks. The library is open from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday and is located in the Catholic Center, 5825 Shelby Oaks Drive. For further information, please call Mary Beth Bolton, 373-1226 or email 'Marybeth.bolton@cc.cdom.org'.

2011 - Third Annual Steeplechase

Thanks to all who participated in any way to the success of the Steeplechase. For all who ran, walked, pushed, gave out water, did registration, called out time, served beverages and food, bought t-shirts, donated money or time before, during or after the race, a BIG THANK YOU! More later on the final figure of funds raised, but no matter the outcome, we all came together for St. Marys Soup Kitchen and Building Fund. We just keep getting bigger and better! Many thanks to Susan Gates and entire team for a wonderful job!

CARE CO-OP

Care about reaching everyone, calling on our parish. Have you ever wondered or been concerned about someone that has not been in church for a while? Did you bring it to someones attention? Have you had a recent surgery or hospital stay and no one called? Do you know of a homebound church member that could use a visit? We could all probably answer yes to one of these questions, but it is not because your church does not care...it is because your church family does not know. Please call Becky Todd at 901-274-5360 or 901-870-5454 if you are interested in helping to facilitate this new ministry.
